Intended for site workers, operators, handlers, personnel at treatment/storage/disposal facilities, sub-contractors and others needing to comply with OSHA initial 40-hour training requirements. HAZWOPER provides knowledge and skills necessary to assist with remedial operations surrounding a hazardous materials incident and uses a combination of classroom presentation and "hands-on" field exercises. Course syllabus covers: hazardous materials recognition; basics of toxicology; employee medical surveillance; chemical hazards; respiratory and personal protection; monitoring equipment and procedures; regulatory compliance (OSHA, SARA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT); confined space entry; operatinal zone determination; spill control engineering and decontamination.
This 24-hour course is an abbreviated version of the full OSHA HAZWOPER training and does not include equipment familiarization training or "hands-on" exercises with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, Level A Personal protective equipment, or simulated spill response.
Offered in compliance with OSHA Annual Refresher training requirements. Instructional focus in this one-day update is state-of-the-art regulatory review, standards for generators, hazard communications, site safety considerations, emergency response actions, and waste handling techniques, operations, and planning. This course fulfills the requirements for both workers and supervisors.
