Reduce the Risk for Slips and Trips
Good housekeeping eliminates many slip and trip hazards. Keep walkways clear of tools, supplies, scrap, and other materials.
Clean up or report spills and leaks as soon as possible. Alert others immediately to the hazard.

Anytime you have a near miss, recognize the situation as a red flag signaling that a hazard exists.

Beat the Heat
Be sure you're drinking enough water when working in a hot environment. Keep a water bottle handy.
Protect your skin from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves, and pants, and by using SPF 30 sunscreen on exposed skin.

Maintain Machine Guards
When using machinery or power tools, always keep machine guards in place and never alter them.
Stay alert and use common sense when working around machinery. Know and avoid the spots where fingers or hands could be injured.

Lock It Out for Safety's Sake
Never perform maintenance or repairs on a machine without installing the proper lock and tag - even for a "quick fix."
Do not work under another person's lock and tag. Always use your own.

Be Ready in Case of Fire
Know the emergency procedures and escape routes for your workplace.
Never block or lock emergency exits.
Set up and practice a fire escape plan for your home as well.
