Our training dates are schedules for the entire year for your convenience. Occupational Training reserves the right, however, to revise this schedule without notice.

Directions to our training site: from Honolulu/Ewa
1. Take H-1 to Campbell Industrial Park (CIP);
2. Take CIP exit onto Kalaeloa Boulevard;
3. From Kalaeloa, turn right onto Malakole Street (second traffic signal);
4. From Malakole Street take first left onto Hanua Street;
5. Drive makai 3 blocks just past Kuhele Street;
6. Hanua Industrial Complex will be on the right.
7. Park in any unreserved stall (don't park on the street).
8. Entry is through the glass door (facing parking lot).
9. Occupational Training is located on the second floor, room 209.
Directions "by Bus" to our training site: from Honolulu/Ewa
1. You will need to take the country express (C Bus) to the Kapolei Transit Center.
2. From there, you will have to take Bus 413 to Campbell Industrial Park.
3. Ask the bus driver to let you off as close to the intersection of Hanua and Kaomi Loop as possible. Depending on where you get off, you will have a 1-3 block walk to that intersection.
4. Our office address is 91-110 Hanua Street, Suite 209.
5. Hanua Industrial Complex will be on the right.
6. Entry is through the glass door (facing parking lot).
7. Occupational Training is located on the second floor, room 209.
NOTE: Since class starts at 0800, you will have to leave from Ala Moana at 0600 to get to class on time.

Think ahead. Anticipate how your actions could put you or your co-workers in danger, and choose the safe alternative.

Protect Against Slips, Trips, and Falls
Never take shortcuts with safety. Use the proper slip or fall protection - even for quick tasks.
Always clearly identify slip, trip, and fall hazards to co-workers.
Be aware of conditions where a change of traction is likely.
Take shorter steps when on slippery surfaces.
Do not leave tools, supplies, and trash lying about. They could become a hazard to others.

Focus On Highway Safety
Always obey traffic laws and be courteous to other drivers.
Acknowledge any hazardous driving habits you have - and stop them.
Avoid distracting activities such as using the cell phone, eating, or changing the radio or CD while driving.
Drive defensively. Stay alert for unexpected actions by other motorists.
Seatbelts are a necessity, not an option. Always have everyone in the vehicle buckle up.

Lock It Out To Block Out Injuries
.Ensure taht ALL potential sources of energy are de-energized or blocked, and lock them out before starting work.
Never remove, ignore, or bypass locks or tags that you find on equipment.
Do not "sneak in" a quick job under someone else's lockout. Always use your own.
Ensure that co-workers know your plans before returning locked equipment to service.

Be Cool When It Comes To Summer Heat
Don't wait until you're thirsty. Avoid dehydration by drinking plenty of water when it's hot.
Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion: headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, excessive thirst, clammy skin, and a rapid pulse.
Take breaks to cool off when the heat is high.
When out in the sun, use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or more and wear clothing that minimizes skin exposure.

Respect The Power of Electricity
Use extension cords only when required, and choose a type designed for the application.
Check the rating of your extension cords. Never let the total amperage or wattage of all plugged-in equipment exceed that rating.
Plug into ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) when using AC-powered protable tools in wet environments. Test the GFCIs monthly.
Have qualified personnel perform electrical repairs and maintenance both on and off the job.

Dress For Safety Success
Use the personal protective equipment (PPE) specified by your supervisor or the material safety data sheet, and wear it properly.
Always check the condition of your PPE before use. Replace or repair defective or suspect items.
Do not remove or modify machine guards or bypass interlocks.
PPE is vital to personal safety, but you must also know how to perform the job safely in the first place.

Practic Forklift Safety
Never drive up to someone standing in front of a bench or other fixed object.
Sound the vehicle's horn at blind aisles and corners.
Ensure that the load is stable and secure before driving or lifting.
If the load obstructs your vision when moving forward, use a spotter or drive with the load trailing.
Do not raise or lower the forks while the forklift is moving.

Make Fire Safety A Way of Life
Test and clean smoke alarms monthly. Replace alarms every 10 years or as recommended by the manufacturer.
Replace smoke alarm batteries every 6 months and as needed.
Develop a family fire escape plan for your home, and practice it.
Know the locations of fire extinguisheers, fire alarms, and exits at your workplace.

Know the location of first aid kits at work.
Have a fully stocked first aid kit in the car and at home.
Treat every injury prompthly, even if it is seemingly minor.
Post emergency phone numbers near all phones at work and home.
Know what to do in case of injury. Keep up-to-date on first aid, CPR, and the Heimlich maneuver.
